The anthracite finish offers significantly more design versatility than standard white or chrome. Its deep, muted tone creates a striking focal point in minimalist spaces yet harmonises beautifully with period features in traditional settings. Many of our clients find it bridges the aesthetic gap between heritage architecture and contemporary furnishings without dominating either.

The column design references traditional radiator aesthetics, but the clean lines and anthracite finish create a distinctly contemporary edge. We’ve seen stunning installations in ultra-modern minimalist spaces where the radiator provides textural contrast against sleek surfaces. The key is treating it as an intentional design element rather than merely functional hardware.

The 1.5mm steel construction represents a 25-30% increase in material thickness compared to standard panel radiators (typically 1.1-1.2mm). This enhances durability and heat retention, which is particularly valuable in spaces with high thermal demand or frequent temperature fluctuations. The additional material mass also contributes to more consistent heat distribution.

Standard 1/2″ BSP valves are compatible with the GLO Kensington range. However, to maintain the aesthetic integrity of your installation, we recommend thermostatic valves that match the anthracite. For technically optimal performance, thermostatic valves with lockshield partners provide the most precise temperature control and hydraulic balancing capabilities.

The substantial steel mass (approximately 40% greater than equivalent-sized panel radiators) provides excellent thermal inertia. Depending on ambient temperature conditions, expect 25-40 minutes of meaningful heat output after your system cycles off. This characteristic is particularly valuable in properties with intermittent heating schedules or rooms with significant thermal fluctuations.

The powder-coated anthracite finish requires minimal maintenance. Dust regularly with a soft cloth. For deeper cleaning, use a slightly damp microfibre cloth with mild soapy water, avoiding abrasive cleaners or solvents that could compromise the finish. The electrostatically applied powder coating provides exceptional resistance to chipping and scratching compared to wet-painted alternatives.

Beyond basic BTU calculations (which should account for room dimensions, insulation levels, glazing and external wall exposure), consider the visual proportions within your space. Taller 600mm models create balanced vertical lines for period properties with higher ceilings. In spaces with longer walls, multiple smaller units often provide more even heat distribution than a single larger unit while maintaining visual rhythm.

Triple-column configurations provide approximately 35-40% higher heat output than equivalently sized double-column versions, making them ideal for spaces with higher thermal demands or poor insulation. The additional depth (approximately 30mm) creates a more pronounced visual statement and greater thermal mass. Double columns offer a more restrained profile for spaces where dimensions are constrained or aesthetic subtlety is preferred.
